Conceived by an experienced yacht owner with serious long-term yachting plans, the 58m / 191’ CARPE DIEM brilliantly encapsulates his vision of ocean living. Technically performing, wonderfully luxurious with exceptional deck space, she also showcases American yacht construction and design at its best.
Built by Trinity Yachts, her sleek exterior styling and naval architecture was by Geoff Van Aller. His yachts are renowned for their elegant, streamlined, and timeless aesthetic, and CARPE DIEM still stands out. A fully-custom, high-volume yacht, she was based on Trinity’s successful 10-meter beam platform with a high performing, semi-displacement heavily plated aluminum hull. Her 2.6m /8’ 6” draft enables her to cruise in shallow waters.
Her interior was by another top American designer, Carol Williamson who, in tandem with her owner, created CARPE DIEM’s cohesive interior and exterior décor, a beacon of Art Deco in the yachting world.
The Story
"Art Deco represents luxury, glamour, exuberance and technological progress."
CARPE DIEM does not disappoint. A triumph of Art Deco, she combines modern elegance with Golden Era Hollywood charm. Her dramatic black and white interior in Macassar ebony, white onyx and shimmering grey and cream fabrics is enhanced by a spectacular collection of black-and-white photographs of Hollywood icons including a Marilyn Monroe series by Milton Greene.
The Art Deco theme successfully travels from inside to outdoors. “The custom free-standing and built-in furniture for outdoors was designed in Macassar ebony to feel like living room furniture”. Seamlessly offset by the white deck caulking, the dark furniture is finished to withstand heat, humidity and the salty environment. Meticulously maintained, the décor and layout are as crisp and appealing today as when CARPE DIEM was launched, a testament to the success and comfort of the design.
